FAQ

What is AAC?

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication which can be gestures, signed language, or anything that is replacing natural speech. Speech-generating devices are considered to be a part of AAC, which means helping people to express themselves and participate in social life.

What is BCI?

BCI is a Brain-Computer Interface technology linking external devices to the brain. BCIs are beneficial to people with communication challenges as they open new doors for interaction with the world.

When do I need BCI?

Depending on the state of the disease you might need a BCI to improve your communication especially if typing, or eye-tracking is not suitable for you. AderaBrain BCI helps to turn your brainwaves into words and livestream the results during the communication process.

What are EEG waves

EEG (electroencephalography) waves are electrical patterns generated by neural activity in the brain, detectable through electrodes placed on the scalp. These waves are grouped into different frequency bands—such as delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma—each associated with specific states of consciousness or cognitive functions. For example, delta waves (0.5–4 Hz) are prominent during deep sleep, while alpha waves (8–13 Hz) are linked to relaxation and calm alertness. EEG is widely used in neuroscience and medicine to study brain states, diagnose neurological conditions, and monitor brain activity in real-time.

Is EEG monitoring safe for the brain

Yes, EEG monitoring is considered safe for the brain. It is a non-invasive technique that simply involves placing electrodes on the scalp to record the brain’s electrical activity; it does not emit any harmful radiation or electrical current into the brain. EEG has been used extensively in both clinical and research settings without adverse effects, making it a common tool for diagnosing neurological conditions like epilepsy, sleep disorders, and brain injuries. The procedure is painless and carries minimal to no risk, even when used for extended monitoring.
